Sustainability at MIAS: not only the electricity is going green

Sustainability is also playing an increasingly important role at MIAS. At the turn of the year, the power supply of the headquarters in Eching was switched to renewable energies - the conversion of the sites in China, Hungary and the USA is being planned. By completely eliminating electricity from fossil fuels such as lignite and hard coal or natural gas, the company is now reducing its emissions for electricity consumption in Germany to almost zero. Compared to the conventional electricity mix, MIAS thus saves around 72 tons of CO2 annually. A compensation area the size of more than 8 soccer fields of mixed forest would be required if this amount of CO2, once emitted, were to be removed from the atmosphere again within one year.

"This is only one step towards climate neutrality, but an important one," says Manfred Klug, Managing Director of MIAS GmbH. "In parallel, we have been increasingly focusing on sustainability already in the development of our products for a long time. Our devices are designed for continuous operation over years, if not decades. Every kilogram that the product weighs less makes a difference! In the new development of the PAL stacker crane, for example, we were able to reduce the weight by more than 20% while increasing performance."
